Andrew P. Wilson, CFP®
After just a few short years in the industry, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional Andy Wilson had a dream to create an independent financial advisory firm that would provide completely unbiased financial advice. This meant no proprietary products – no ties to Wall Street firms – and no pressure to recommend the latest products to his clients. Quickly tiring of working for firms that were more interested in marketing a product than doing what was in the client’s best interest, Andy realized his dream in 1992 and joined with his longtime business partner Tom Kozlowski to co-found Lighthouse Wealth Management, Inc. Andy now uses his years of experience to guide individuals, families, and businesses through the ever changing financial planning landscape with unbiased advice driven by his clients’ needs.
Andy came to Maryland in 1984 from his home town of Windsor, Ontario in Canada, having been recruited on a lacrosse scholarship by Loyola College in Baltimore, Maryland In 1988, he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Loyola College and upon graduation joined a national financial services firm marketing tax-sheltered annuities to teachers in Prince George’s County. Influenced by his in laws, who both hold their Certified Financial Planner™ certification, Andy enrolled in the College of Financial Planning and received his CFP® certification in 1994.
For over two decades now, Andy has had the opportunity to work with a broad range of clientele. His expertise with the retirement options available to Maryland teachers allows him to continue to assist teachers from the Montgomery, Howard, Carroll, Prince George’s, and Washington County school systems. As a benefits consultant to Meritus Hospital in Hagerstown, Andy has also had the privilege of meeting the planning needs of numerous health care professionals, including doctors, surgeons, nurses, and support staff. In addition, Andy’s services are in demand by employees and retirees from such corporations as Verizon, Lockeed Martin, Northrup Gruman, T.Rowe Price, the Federal Government, and other Fortune 500 companies.
Andy attributes the continued growth of Lighthouse Wealth Management, Inc. to its adherence to a solid financial planning process, constant research, and the willingness to adapt that planning process to an everchanging financial industry.
Andy lives in Glenwood, Maryland with his wife Melissa, their daughter, Megan, and sons Spencer and Connor. He is heavily involved in his children’s extra curricular activities, and also finds time to indulge in his other great passion of life – golf.
